Bees vs. Birds

Birds Camera Systems cable cameras are so

attractive that even bees love them.

During the match between Alexander Zverev and

Carlos Alcaraz at the BNP Paribas Open quarterfinal

in Indian Wells, thousands of bees invaded the

court and attacked the players. After we flew near

the players to investigate what was happening the

bees changed location and nested completely on

our Albatross 3d cable cam. Fortunately, nobody was

seriously injured, and after a beekeeper was called in

to collect the bees from our dolly, the match could

continue.

Robycam in action at the ESL One Katowice 2019 and Intel Extreme Masters eSports events

With eSports being the current driving force in the entertainment and sports sector there is an ever-increasing demand for bigger spectacle and better viewer experience at eSports events, live on site, on TV or via streaming. From 22 February to 3 March, the ESL One Dota 2 and Intel Extreme Masters eSports tournaments stopped in Katowice, Poland. Around 18,000 visitors followed the battels live in the Spodek Arena and several million via Internet stream. The perfect stage for Robycam Germany’s cable camera system.

New Views for ZDF Gala "Sportsman of the Year 2018" with Robycam Compact

Twenty years ago, German public broadcaster ZDF broadcast the Sportsman of the Year award for the first time. To mark the event's 20th anniversary, the station raised the number of cameras capturing the event to ten. One of them was the Robycam Compact, which was used for the first time as a cable camera system in the Kurhaus Baden-Baden to "fly" three-dimensionally through the Bénazetsaal. Robycam Compact is a smaller version of the Robycam 3D cable camera system, which is only half as heavy and designed for smaller venues. Just as its big brother, the Robycam Compact moves freely in the vertical and horizontal in venues to produce spectacular images from all angles and heights unique in the broadcast business.

Launch of Robycam Compact

We premiered our new Robycam Compact system at IBC Show 2018. Robycam Compact is a smaller version of the Robycam 3D cable-suspended camera system. Same as its bigger brother, the camera can move freely through space in vertical and horizontal dimensions allowing to shoot spectacular images from all viewing angles that no other camera can achieve.

Robycam Compact is designed for TV studios and small and medium-sized sports venues, for example, basketball or ice-hockey halls. The winches of the system may be easily placed in venues with limited space still providing enough pulling force to maximise the working height of the camera. The compact and lightweight dolly with a gyro-stabilised camera-head allow for the control of camera orientation and lens parameters. Robycam Compact is available both for fixed installations and in a mobile variant for multi-event applications.

Robycam at football national Germany - Brazil

For producing the international football match between Germany and Brazil, German public broadcaster ZDF as a first timer in football used new possibilities for image composition leveraging the Robycam cable camera system and augmented reality elements. During the friendly, which took place on March 27 at Berlin Olympic Stadium, ZDF used the Robycam cable camera system along with a Broadcast Solutions production team. Together with augmented reality elements, implemented by the graphics service provider netventure production GmbH, new graphic elements could be inserted during the camera’s movement in the stadium. The Robycam signals, including the actual location data in the stadium, and the virtual graphics of netventure were mapped in the computer and then sent. Using these new innovative tools, ZDF was able to offer its viewers additional content and information, even while moving the cable camera system in the stadium.

STIHL Timbersports World Championships with Robycam

November 11 to 12, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships took place in Stuttgart's Porsche Arena in Germany. And the Robycam cable camera system provided new perspectives for the TV coverage of this event. Used for the event a Robycam Head, together with a Grass Valley LDX C80 Compact Worldcam and a Canon HJ14 optics, enabled endless pan of 360 °.
